How to calculate the air compressor pipeline pressure drop?

To calculate the pressure drop in an air compressor pipeline, you can use the following formula:

Pressure drop = ((Length of pipeline in feet x Pressure drop factor) / Inside diameter of pipeline in inches)^2 x Flow rate in cubic feet per minute

The pressure drop factor is a value that depends on the type of pipeline and its condition. For example, a clean, smooth pipeline might have a pressure drop factor of 0.0002, while a dirty, rough pipeline might have a pressure drop factor of 0.001.

To determine the flow rate in cubic feet per minute, you can use the following formula:

Flow rate = (Tank volume in cubic feet x compressor cycles per minute) / (cycle time in seconds x 60)

Once you have calculated the pressure drop using the first formula and the flow rate using the second formula, you can subtract the pressure drop from the compressor discharge pressure to determine the pressure at the end of the pipeline. This will help you ensure that the pressure at the point of use is sufficient for your needs.

Keep in mind that these calculations are estimates and may not reflect the actual conditions in your specific system. It’s always a good idea to consult with a professional to ensure that your system is properly designed and maintained for optimal performance.
